Growing Up And New Discoveries!
I grew up with one of my male cousins.
His name…Bobo.
Bobo and I were both six years of age and well, the maid usually showered us together.
One day, I got into a fight with my neighbour, 8 years old Sandra. While she called me names like ‘monkey’, ‘lion’ and ‘vulture’, I had just one line for her.
“Your navel is bigger than Bobo’s peepee.”
Though my parents made me pay dearly for that statement, Bobo little balls I saw was just THE PEEPEE to me.

She also said she never took a break from music because she was engaged and expecting a baby. She revealed that she isn’t scared of any female musician because the sky is big enough for them all, and she only left her record label because she felt it was time to move on. The boyfriend from Facebook
For the next couple of weeks, I will be sharing my ‘boyfriend hunting experiences’ I encountered on various social networks starting with FACEBOOK.
I was going through my facebook updates when I saw a post that captured my attention.
“Cake and icecream at Sweet Sensation, Allen Avenue? Who’s up? #generousmood”
Who says no to free food?
I clicked the comment box and typed
‘me’
Minutes later, my inbox blinked.
He had just one photoshopped picture on his album where he was dressed like an MTV star. I’m talking of timbaland boots, baggy jeans and a hat.
Judging from the number of likes he had, I thought he didn’t look bad. I was a bit disappointed when I went through his posts. This guy was no doubt, haughty. When he’s not referring to girls as bitches, he’s calling them hoes.
I made up my mind not to meet him notwithstanding the fact that both of us were residents of Lagos but alas, fate had other plans.
I was at an event at Four Points by Sheraton one night when I felt someone grabbed my palms in the dark. I turned to say hi when the mysterious guy introduced himself as GuyA, the facebook guy.
It was easy to believe him as he wore his profile picture attire including the boots and hat. We couldn’t see our faces properly due to the dim lights so we exchanged numbers & addresses with an agreement to hang out the next day.
7am, my caller tone woke me up from bed just when I was about eating suya in my dream.
The annoying caller was GuyA.
”Hello NSG, you said you live at Plot bla bla bla…come outside, I’m within the estate.”
I just wanted to dive into my phone and strangle him to death. Which boy calls and visits a girl at 7am in the morning?
“I don’t mean to sound rude but please return back to the vampire coffin you came from! You just interrupted my sweet dreams!” I screamed into my mouthpiece.
Before he could defend himself, I switched off my phone.
Ugggghhhhh!
All that free suya gone just like that…
When I was fully awake by 9am, I switched on my phone only to see a text message from him.
‘Let’s meet at KFC, Ikeja by 2pm. I’m sorry’
I acknowledged his sms.
When I stepped into KFC, I glanced left and right without catching sign of him. As I made to leave, someone signalled me at one corner of the eatery.
I walked to the table to get a closer glimpse of the person when he said
”Haba, Naijasinglegirl, you are funny oh! So if I didn’t call you, you would have just gone home without seeing me.”
”GuyA???” I was held spellbound.
“What is it?” He replied.
“You look different. I really don’t know.” I added.
He still wore his ‘facebook clothes’ with his larger than life boots. Something was not just right and I was trying hard to figure it.
That was when I saw it. Jesus Christ!

I could not believe his hat had tricked his facebook friends into dropping 53 likes for him. Headward owes Mark Zuckerberg 53 likes.
He pretended not to hear my question.
He told me he his an upcoming rapper.
That explained the timbaland boots and the hollywood mode of dressing. I was waiting for him to explain how he ended up with that mainframe head.
From that moment, he became very annoying. He turned our date to an MTN project fame audition venue.
He suddenly developed one Calabar/Jamaican accent and he began speaking in lyrics and rhymes.
First thing I heard was ”sweetiepie, you’ve not touched your meatpie”
”You say?” I was dazed at such rhymes..
”My beautiful date, it seems you watch your weight. How about I order salad for you. It won’t cause your body hazard”
How much more could a lady take?
It is an error to have such a large head full of jargon and viruses.
Before I got to the cafe, I promised I was going to stay for 2hours but from the look of things, he was going to corrupt the data in my head if I stayed another ten minutes. I had to cut all traces of him in the smartest way I could since he had my home address and phone no.
“Have you ever killed someone?” I asked him.
“Nooooo, I only murder dem wack rappers with my thunder lyrics” he responded.
“No problem” I sighed.
I continued…
“You know, I met this cult guy last year,,,, he had a cure to my fascination. One day, he captured two people from a rival cult to a forest and he made me shoot them. I had no choice. He swore to hurt me if I didn’t. I had to obey. It felt good watching all that blood spill but whenever I think of my it, I end up with sleepless nights.”
“Is this a joke or something?” The fear in his eyes was gleaming.
“Why would I joke about something like that” I lied.
“Let me take my leave now.” I added casually.
He made no attempt to stop me while I walked out.
The next day, I sent him two heartwarming messages on facebook.
He responded with just one word.
‘Psycho’
That was the last time I heard from him

Sawok: We were in the hostel. One of the men dressed in military camouflage asked us where our dining hall was. From our hostels, they took us to the dining hall and from there, we were moved into the waiting vehicles and they headed towards Damboa town. The incident happened around 11pm.
Walse: It is a long story. They came to our school and deceived us into believing they were soldiers. They were dressed in military uniform and made us believe they were about rescuing us only for us to later find out that they were insurgents. Naïve me would do it with all my might and the funny part of the story was when my mum walked in on him telling her 8 year old daughter to touch his d**k. ”Jesus! You Won't Believe What Happened To Me At Shoprite Yesterday.
You won't believe what happened to me yesterday at shoprite. I still can't get over it.I went to the super mart to pick something to eat,and as I was walking down the aisle,I noticed this woman staring at me. I looked at her and kept walking to the front counter to pick up what i had come for. As I picked them, I turned to find the same woman right in front of me. I just smiled and said hi to her, then I went on to get my items. I turned to see her following me everywhere.
I was getting a little nervous and at the same time mad,but she kept on following me without saying anything. I greeted her again and she responded. 'I am sorry for staring but you look just like my youngest son.We buried him two weeks ago. I felt silly for getting mad and I expressed my sincere condolence to her and she said she was fine as she knows that her son was safe anywhere he was.She then pleaded with me for a favor. She said her son never said goodbye to her before passing on. She asked me to get in line behind her as she left the shop and say these words 'Goodbye mum'.Even though I thought the request was weird, I had to do it to make her happy. As she collected her bags from the cashier and walked away, I said 'bye mom' to which she replied 'Good bye son'When the cashier calculated my items, she said that the total was N150,750!. I was amazed.How could coke, gala and water cost that much?She answered, your mum said you are paying for hers too. I screamed, that woman is not my mom. I quickly rushed out just in time to see the woman approaching the parking lot. I ran after her screaming 'Excuse me, excuse me.She started running for her car as she saw me coming. I caught up with her just before she was able to close the door. I kept on pulling and pulling and pulling her legs just as I am pulling yours now. Lol. Una too like gist, just look at how serious you are..LOL. Have a splendid week!!

Buried alive… but Chinese woman is saved because had her hard hat on
The
accident happened in the county of Jinjiang in southeast China's Fujian
province when Mingmei Xiong, 34, fell into the sandpit nearly 80 feet
deep on the construction site, and had a wall of sand fall on top of
her.
But
thanks to the fact that she had a hard hat on, she was able to survive
as it created a pocket of air that allowed her to breathe in the crucial
30 minutes it took for colleagues and firemen to reach her.
This is the dramatic moment when rescuers saw
34-year-old Mingmei Xiong at being crushed by tonnes of sand in the
construction site in China's Fujian province
Rescuers quickly attached a rope to Xiong as the began digging her out of the sinkhole
Rescuers had to carefully remove tonnes of sand in an effort to widen the hole without causing a fatal collapse

Shaiming Liang, 43, said: 'We reached her head but the big problem was
that the soft, shifting sand would cover her as fast as we could dig it
out.
'It was like the sand did not want to let her go.'
When
the firemen turned up Xiong had already been trapped in the pit for 30
minutes.\n\nOne fireman was fastened by a rope to go into the pit upside
down to remove the sand around Xiong's head while others with shovels
kept moving away the sand around the pit.
Fire
brigade spokesman Chung Pan, 45, said: 'It had to be done with extreme
care. The sand was fine and wanted to move in one direction only - down
on to the head of the trapped victim. It was very tense, a real race
against time before there was another major collapse.'

Eventually, Xiong is helped free from the hole having suffering only minor injures requiring an overnight stay in hospital

the digger and the fireman on the rope kept her nose and mouth free,
other firemen dug a rescue tunnel ten feet long beside the woman to
allow her to be pulled free.
Co-worker Meng Huang, 31, said: 'She popped out like a cork from a bottle.
'We were so happy. We thought she was a goner.'
Xiong
was conscious if somewhat shell-shocked after her release, and was
taken to hospital where she spent a night under observation before being
allowed to go home
US Warns Boko Haram May Attack Sheraton Hotel In Lagos

(AFP) – US diplomats in Nigeria on Friday claimed that
“groups associated with terrorism” could be planning to attack a hotel in the
financial capital, Lagos, in a travel note to citizens warning of security
risks.
“As of late April, groups associated with terrorism
allegedly planned to mount an unspecified attack against the Sheraton Hotel in
Nigeria, near the city of Lagos,” the US Consulate General in Lagos said in an
emailed advisory.
“There was no further information regarding which of the two
Sheraton Hotels in Lagos was the possible target, or if both of the Sheraton
Hotels are possible targets
.
“There is no further information regarding the timing or
method of attack. US citizens are cautioned to avoid these hotels at this
time.”
The warning comes a day after a car bomb exploded in
Nigeria’s capital Abuja, killing 19 people and wounding scores more, just yards
(metres) from a bus station where a previous bombing on April 14 killed at
least 75.
Boko Haram claimed the April 14 attack and both bombings
have raised fears about a possible change in tactics and targets by the
Islamist militants, whose increasingly deadly, five-year insurgency has largely
been confined to the north.
Concern has mounted that the violence could spread to other
parts of the country given the military’s apparent inability to stem the
bloodshed.
A hotel attack by Islamist extremists would not be
unprecedented.
In November 2008, heavily armed gunmen attacked three luxury
hotels, a railway station, Jewish centre and popular tourist cafe in the Indian
city of Mumbai, killing 166 and wounding more than 300.
Sheraton has two hotels in Lagos: the Sheraton Hotel Lagos
in the Ikeja area of the city near the international airport and the Four Points
by Sheraton.
The latter is situated on Victoria Island off the expressway
to Lekki, both of which are home to many wealthier Nigerians and expatriates.
The US travel advisory said the security situation in
Nigeria remained “fluid and unpredictable”, warning its citizens to stay away
from all travel to Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states which have borne the brunt of
the violence.

Women in clergy trooped out in their numbers in protest of the recent happenings in Nigeria. The group which comprises female Pastors, Prophetesses, Rev. Sisters, Pastor’s wives and evangelists say they are ready to use every means, including their ‘bre'ast’ to pray to God for intervention. The women said they are ready to use the power of women as manifested in the Bible to rise against violence in the country.
The group who were all clad in black attires said they were ready to strip and pray to God, using the very ‘breast’ the Boko Haram insurgents sucked at some point to reach out to God in Protest.
Speaking during the protest march that metamorphosed into a courtesy call at the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission in Abuja, where the Association took their protest to the Executive Director, one of the women of God, Pastor Mama Praise said:
"We stand with the authority of the most high and declare today that all forms of violence in our land be put to an abrupt end. These Boko Haram members were all born by women, and at some point, we fed them with our bre'ast, the same bre'ast will be a curse unto them if we expose it while crying to God and pointing it to the high heavens."Also speaking , the President, Nigerian women in clergy, Prophetess Nonnie Roberson said Nigerian women were angry over the ongoing event in the country, particularly the inversion of the country by Boko Haram terrorists. While introducing the group to the Director, she said "we are ordained women ministers of God who have taken up our responsibilities as wailing women as posited in Jeremiah chapter 9. Our mission is taking a spiritual stand against injustice in the Land. We engage and operate in spiritual warfare and advocacy having been mandated to raise our voices for the voiceless woman; we are advancing against the wickedness in the land like Deborah, rebuilding the walls like Nehemiah and displacing the ungodly like Esther. We are also committed to intercession, projecting peace, supporting good governance and promoting righteousness in the leadership of our dear Nation."
Responding, the Executive Director of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, John Kennedy, thanked the women for their patriotism. While emphasising on the importance of women in nation building, Kennedy said whenever women cry to God, He listens, affirming that it is time they ask God to intervene on the ongoing violence unleashed on Nigerians.

29-year-old man kills his own daughter over plate of rice
Kingsley, a commercial driver who hails from Nto Osung community in Ikot Ekpene Local Area of Akwa Ibom State, holds just a First Leaving Certificate and has to drive his bus daily through the bustling traffic of Port Harcourt to make ends meet and put food on the table for his young family.
Judging from his looks, no one would have taken him for a murderer or imagined that he is capable of killing his own child.
On this fateful day of April 12, 2014, Kingsley returned home like every other day at 1900hrs, already famished. He hurried down to the pot of rice he had prepared before leaving for work only to find that his also hungry daughter, Favour, had helped herself to the meal he had reserved for himself. Kingsley’s animal instincts became awakened and what followed were fits of mad rage as the red-eyed father unleashed his beastly tendencies on his seven-year-old daughter.Little Favour Ekerete, who had been ill before this time, cried herself to sleep and her illness worsened as a result of the beating she received from her father. According to Kingsley’s own confession, she died some hours later.
He then proceeded to place the corpse at a corner of his one-room apartment, an apartment that also housed his two other children aged two and three, not even giving a thought to the implications of keeping the dead child with her frightened siblings.
The kids bore the ordeal as the remains of Favour spent a whole night with them before their father, having made sure his neighbours were all fast asleep, wrapped the corpse in his own clothing, took a shovel and buried it in a shallow grave behind his room.
But Favour’s spirit must have cried out from that shallow grave for justice, for as much as Kingsley tried to cover his crime, he was soon found out. One Ugwu, the caretaker of the building where Kingsley resides, noticed the strange and sudden disappearance of Favour, who had been the darling of neighbours.
She (Ugwu) quizzed her father about her whereabouts and the latter spun a story of how the child had taken ill and how he had taken her to a hospital in neighbouring Umuebulu community where she had died.
But Ms Ugwu insisted on seeing the corpse, which Kingley blatantly refused to oblige her. She then threatened to report to the police. But before then, she informed a neighbour, one Pastor Emeka Onuoha, of the situation.
While this was going on, men of the Afam Police Division who were on patrol were flagged down by the pastor. Kingsley was arrested and, after interrogations, was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Rivers State.
In an attempt to cover his crime, Kingsley gave different accounts to the police, claiming that the mother of his children abandoned him to take care of their ailing child alone and the child had died for lack of attention while he toiled for find money. Yet in another account, he claimed that being so poor, he had deposited his mobile phone with a Hausa rice seller in order to get the rice that he had prepared to feed the children, not knowing that the rice had been poisoned.
When asked to lead the police to the location of Favour’s corpse, he also gave conflicting accounts. He first said she had died on the way to the hospital and so he buried her somewhere along the way and couldn’t remember where it was. Then he later said that the body was in a mortuary at a neighbouring village.
But the truth was unfolded when his parents, Mr and Mrs Ekerete, visited the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). They told the police of Kingsley’s strange behaviour even toward the mother of his children, who ran away from home to avoid his excesses. Kingsley’s father also narrated how his son had called him immediately after the child’s death.
He has since taken the police to the site where he buried his daughter in a grave so shallow that the corpse is visible even without exhumation.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Tunde Ogunsakin, explained that his men, after receiving the case file from Afam Police Station, noticed that Kingsley’s explanation on his missing daughter was suspicious and that efforts to reach the mother of the deceased was rebuffed when police started investigation.
He said that this is a case of homicide and that considering the nature of the crime, Kingsley would need to go through a psychiatric test before he is taken to court for prosecution.
According to Ogunsakin, the Child’s Rights Act Sections 4 and 14 state that this is a violation of the child’s right to survival and development as well as parental care and protection.
